Diaphragm compressors are a positive
displacement compressor, also referred to as a membrane compressor, uses a
flexible diaphragm to divide two chambers. The chambers are attached to an
intake and discharge port, and the diaphragm is moved by either a rotating
crank or a linear actuator. Air or other gases are alternately drawn into and
expelled from the chambers as the diaphragm moves. Gases and gas mixes can be
compressed without abrasion or lubricant using diaphragm compressors. Since
they don't leak, they are especially ideal for high purity gases as well as for
expensive, hazardous, and explosive gases.
